Experts Say “Girls Around Me” App Goes Wrong

An app that shows you “girls around you” has gone bye-bye, pulled by the developers after so much controversy.

It uses location data from Foursquare and Facebook to show photos of women who are nearby.

HLN Digital Lifestyle Expert Mario Armstrong says the app definitely has privacy concerns, questionable overt sexual imagery AND is just “wrong.”

Professor of History and Gender Myths at Pasadena City College, Hugo Schwyzer, adds it enables creepy, dangerous behavior. He also takes on those who say women just shouldn’t “check-in” on apps.

Here’s our conversation from my 3pm newscast on HLN.

Here’s a few comments viewers left on my Facebook page and Twitter:

SHAUN: Definitely a creepy app, no matter how clever it was. As if women don’t have enough creepy guys stalking them already, let’s make it easier for stalkers to find women! smh

JEFF:  People are being paranoid!

KATIE:I don’t know what’s worse: the fact that someone actually thought up an app like this or that 70,000 losers downloaded it…

Tell me what YOU think below!
