This picture is not photoshopped. That is Kathy Ireland on Forbes Magazine…because she is running things. Kathy Ireland Worldwide is a multi-billion dollar company. I’ve had the privilege of seeing Kathy in action and she is not a figurehead. She is a savvy businesswoman who learned how to succeed while everyone was focused on what she looked like.
Even now, while too many people are still focused on what she looks like, she is employing dozens of people, empowering at- risk girls with her charities and serving as a role model to so many.
If you follow her on Twitter you will find her quoting everyone from her dear friend and mentor Elizabeth Taylor to Tupac. Yes…the late rapper Tupac. When one of her Twitter followers asked her if that was a joke, she replied, “I don’t have to agree with someone to learn from them.” That is Kathy. Open-minded, always learning and growing. In a world that too often tells women their value is in youth and beauty, Kathy has gotten better with age and is shifting the focus to what really matters…who she is as a person. We as women should honor that.

I love that quote “I don’t have to agree with someone, to learn from them” that type of thinking will take you far on the road to success. Few people are able to see beyond their own emotions when dealing with someone whose opinions are different then ours. Fewer still are able to recognize that every person has some type of knowledge, some new or different insight, that can provide a teachable moment. Well said Kathy Ireland.
