Starting this week, I will be making regular contribtions to TheFrisky.com.
The tagline is ‘Love, Life, Stars, Style.’ It’s both a fun and serious site, as you will see in my video op-ed.
Here is my take on Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather being allowed to fight this past weekend.

Unfortunately we’ve seen time and time again that money can change the legal system for you.
Look at the number of celebrities that get off with stuff that you or I would go straight to jail without passing go.
The nation’s values and social mores are most times backwards to rational people. I missed the boxing match but was Floyd Money Mayweather’s effort really worth $50M for 36 minutes in the ring? That payscale is madness in itself but once again the nation’s value system is one based on money, power, and priviledge rather than ethics. That phenomenon is global.
A lot goes into training……time, trainer etc. The trainers, physical fitness conditioners etc have got to be paid
The legal system and money would’ve prevented him from spending one day in jail. Floyd Mayweather fell on his sword. He pleaded guilty because he DID NOT want to expose his kids and family through a very public trial putting them in a position to choose between his mother and supportive father. As you stated repeatedly “We were not there”. I usually agree with you Richelle; however, on this topic I can not.
If anyone is too blame its the system not Mr. “Money” Mayweather.
Just goes to show how money hungry the city of Las Vegas is. Also goes to show how money and fame can get you out of just about anything. ALSO goes to show that, Mayweather has STILL not learn from his past, and will continue to have this “I’m above the law” attitude as long as he continues to get away with it, by using his fame and money. Mayweather is also a “pop icon” and no one will stand up against him and speak out about his obvious domestic violence. So far, I’ve only seen you Richelle speak out about this in the media. ESPN reports on it but won’t speak against it. Also Hollywood embraces Mayweather too much. I saw a Youtube clip that showed Mayweather walking out to the ring with 50 Cent and Justin Bieber this past Saturday. Goes to shows that even other celebrities support Mayweather. In the end Mayweather is lucky that he lives in a city that cares more about money than justice!
RICHELLE, I HIGHLY RESPECT YOU IN EMPOWERING WOMEN. HOWEVER, ON THIS SUBJECT I HAVE A VERY DIFFERENT VIEW. AS A SURVIVOR OF ABUSE/RAPE IT HIGHLY FRUSTRATES AND ANGERS ME WHEN CERTAIN FEMALES CRY “RAPE” WHEN THEY DO NOT GET WHAT THEY WANT, OR THEY CRY “RAPE” BECAUSE THEY HAD CONSENSUAL INTERCOURSE. BECAUSE OF SO MANY FALSE REPORTS OF SUCH ACTS BY CERTAIN FEMALES IT HAS MADE IT DIFFICULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT/PROSECUTION TO PROPERLY HANDLE THESE CASES BECAUSE SO MANY WOMEN HAVE LIED. AND BECAUSE OF THE “SO-CALLED VICTIMS” LIED YES, IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR TRUE VICTIMS TO COME FORWARD BECAUSE NOW THEY ARE GETTING MISTREATED BECAUSE OF THE ACTS OF THOSE WOMEN WHO HAVE LIED ABOUT BEING “THE VICTIM”. WHEN IT COMES TO REPORTS THAT A WOMAN SAYS SHE WAS RAPED AND THE “ALLEGED SUSPECT” HAPPENS TO BE A CELEBRITY, YES I CAST A SHADOW OF DOUBT UNTIL THE FACTS FROM THE POLICE IS PRESENTED. JUST BECAUSE A GUY WHO IS CONSTANTLY IN THE PUBLIC EYE AND A FEMALE CRIES “RAPE” DOES NOT MEAN IT IS TRUE.. AND THEN THE “ALLEGED SUSPECT” IS CRUCIFIED BEFORE THE FACTS EVEN ARE PRESENTED. AND THAT’S IF THE CASE EVEN MAKES IT TO SEE A COURT ROOM… WE NEVER HEAR THE VICTIM’S NAME NOR SEE HER FACE.. THERE IS NO AMOUNT MONEY IN THIS UNIVERSE THAT ANYONE COULD PAY ME TO MAKE ME “SIMPLY GO AWAY” AND “SHOO THE ALLEGED CRIME UNDER THE RUG”… WHICH IS WHY I HIGHLY DISAGREE THAT ANY SETTLEMENT SHOULD BE ALLOWED WHEN IT COMES TO RAPE/ABUSE CASES. “HERE’S $2.5 MILLION TO SHUT YOU UP”. A VICTIM SPEAKS OUT!! NO MATTER IF HER ALLEGED RAPIST HAS $2.5 BILLION OR $2.50….
@Eric J Dobson WHAT!?!? Are you serious??? Both the system and Mayweather are both to blame for this. If Mayweather would have never attacked his ex-girlfriend, none of this would have happened. This is exactly the reasons why Mayweather will continue to get away with these kind of things. People want to point the fingers and put the blame on someone else, but they don’t want to hold Mayweather accountable for his own actions.
The pain is there but it does take attention away from it, it s so hard to be famous and live a regular life at the same time, real life problems exsist in both worlds.
Yes it does.
And it isnt fair he recieve special treatment
