Richelle Carey, 2012 WICT Red Letter Awards Richelle Carey

Richelle is a terrific emcee. She has hosted many events for us at Perennial. She is always personable, funny and keeps the crowd engaged. The audience adores her.

Lamell McMorris,
Founder and CEO Perennial Sports and Entertainment

Richelle was the emcee of the Men Stopping Violence Annual Awards Dinner in 2008. She was so engaging and energetic that we invited her back the next year, and the next. Then, because she is so smart and deeply committed to creating a safer, more just world for women, we invited her to join the Board of our organization. What I admire most about Richelle is her commitment to the issue of women’s rights and safety. She does this work with passion, grace, and just enough diva to make people sit up and listen. I can no longer envision Men Stopping Violence without Richelle Carey!

Shelley Serdahely,
Executive Director Men Stopping Violence

Images in Media and Pop Culture

Richelle SpeakingThe media is increasingly becoming a place where women and girls are marginalized, used only for their looks and sexuality. Other times we are made into emotional caricatures with no basis in reality. Media messaging is powerful, sometimes subtle and often dangerous. In this talk you’ll learn why these messages are harmful to the self-esteem of young women, even when it seems like harmless fun to watch.

Richelle Carey has worked in the news media for over 15 years. Her passion is women and girl’s issues. As a news anchor, she has a unique perspective into how women and girls are presented in the media.
